I'm disappear again for couple of days. I suppose to updated our homeschool blog regularly to make sure I recorded what we had been doing. But, I disappear now and again as time pretty much constrain on me at some point. Ah..may be most of the point!
Our homeschool has been somehow in to routine although we didn't had a chance to do lots of fun things at the moment. As days getting shorter and colder. I fell like we don't have much time although we had 24 hours same time as in summer. May be because I've been taking things easy on my self lately. I did spent more time on t.v my self watching news and documentary which the real reason is being laying down on the cushion in family room where we also keep a duvet for our comfort there. also I went to bed early than I used to in summer. May be this is my first time being at home in autumn and early winter. Last year at this time, I was working 8am till 5.oo pm. I depart from home around 7.20am and usually arrive home around 5.45pm. cannot imagine my self in cold weather and drive on busy A1 after tired at work! So, after nearly 7 years at work during this time of the year, it's really a pleasure for me to be able to sit at home and hibernate my self.
We been doing our mindsprinting worksheet as usual every day.
PS had 4 worksheet of Maths everyday. She completed her first topic which is FACTOR. She been given a certificate for completing it. Now she start the topic on Decimal. Her last topic had twelve lesson and one unit test. Every topic have a briefly worksheet. They working from basic of the topic in to mastering the topic it self for their level. Alhamdulillah, sometimes it's has been hard and once they get used to the idea, than they just get own with it easily. She also had comprehension worksheet. On top of that, she been doing her CGP workbook which cover lots of revision on variety of topic that she had learn before and now. She also finish her history lap book on medieval topic. Will post some picture soon. Apart from quran reading as the start of our homeschool, she also did her Arabic Book from Ad Duha. She love the book so do other children. She now learn and know how to find an ayat in the quran and can recognise arabic number easily only after several lesson. She also can just get on with thebook on her own and learn new things everyday with out my help, alhamdulillah.
MS still on Multiplication worksheet with mindsprinting. He also had the comprehension worksheet which help them to understand the tricky bit of story and choose the correct answer. He also did his workbook for English and today he did Grammar. Same as PS, MS also did his quran reading first thing in the morning and than start with Arabic Book. He start to learn to write the ayat from the quran and recognise Fatha, Kasra, Damma and sukon. As we learn our quran with iqra system, we don't learn all this. But, alhamdulillah they did learn in their Saturday school and now MS learning it from his book as well. Apart from couple of vocabulary he need to memorise, he also learn to write in arabic and match the word with the meaning. He love the book same as others.
S is the one that on the level which give her 3 type of worksheet which is Maths, Comprehension and Reading Excellent. Reading Excellent teach spelling, vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar. She been doing good and start to learn up to recognising hundred thousands. As it's using US curriculum, the way of learning Maths is quiet tough from UK curriculum which I like it pretty much. For me, Maths really need to be tough for children to get hold on basic things before they can move. She do need help for me to explain the learning guide or example on the sheet when it's come to the new topic and get on with her self after that. She did quran reading in the morning and also her Arabic book. She learn about the letter in arabic and how and where the letter should be such as in the middle, alone, beginning or end. Also she learn how to write the letter which she do write nicely in arabic for her age. I may take a picture of their arabic book sometimes.
AS had read quran first thing in the morning as usual everyday. Than he also start doing his Arabic book. He start with learning three colour which is red=ahmar, yellow=asfar and blue=azraq. Today he learn sifr and wahid which he already learn with me before. Lots of colouring for him in the book and he love it to bits as well. Yesterday, he's not much in homeschool as he seems wanted to get off quickly and I let him off. Today he been playing the games from islamic playground. He go on the games which as all sort of islamic knowledge question not really for his age. Alhamdulillah he reach up to level 12 with a bit help from me in his reading. It was amazing and happy me seeing him read the question and answer on his own and learn so many vocabulary himself. From what I've been observe his reading level may already reach end of year 1 and may be already reach year 2 vocabulary. Some of them may be over that. he read what ever he can from signboard everywhere he can see. Also he can now read faster as he already can read a year ago. Which I'm only teach him to read just couple of months ago. He just bashing up to the sky so quick than I can reach him. It also make him happy as it easy for him to understand more world around him. For a person whose not have a teaching background my self neither do I have a degree in education or any subject, I do feel proud with my self. Even in his class in Saturday school, he's the favourite in learning by friends and teachers. And he's the only one who is homeschool in his class. Maths, according to UK curriculum, i had to used worksheet for year two for him as year one worksheet had been so easy for him and he will go.." this is boring..". On mindsprinting worksheet, he's on learning how to write number in tens and hundreds. He learn them quick and on English he just flow up in to the sky and leave me behind. No help at all he need from reading the instruction until doing the basic comprehension himself.
Seeing him, actually make me feel, "Only if I've been homeschool all of them since that age!". But, never too late, in it! Just a hard work on others as school had leave their capability behind. Although they are on their level before and now, but they should be able to go more than their set up level with the capability they have as AS no different than all my other children. But, school did cut off the capability which my children had although I been told by the school that they achieve and been on top group. Along the way, their capability had slow down because they had to follow the set of level and curriculum for their particular age in their class. Unfortunately, they stuck in the system and as I didn't come and rescue them earlier, PS and MS had an impact from what I can see. PS was above her average level on Maths and English when she was like AS age. Not anymore now as she was stuck with school level before. It's quiet ashamed to think about it.
Although there are things still missing in our homeschool such as we not been able to do lots of project as I had to manage four level, but slowly slowly I try. Also they wanted to join other outside activities such as swimming and karate which I haven't been able to find any yet. Today, I start doing citizenship lesson with PS and MS together. PS find it hard to believe that she need to study the same thing which MS. Sometimes or may be most of the time, she kind of forgot that MS is grow up more now. He's 11 years old now and can also start thinking like a grown up and give opinion him self. It's been quiet enjoying which we sit down and discuss about leadership. We learn a bad leader and a good leader and how to balance our self among others. We did brain storming together and spend the good one hour together on the topic.
Overall I was tired out now. Time off for me now and tomorrow we had another day and we will try to cover lots of our mindsprinting lesson as we had to take it easy on Friday as hubby half day and children Saturday school on Saturday plus I will have guest for one night. May Allah make it easy for all of us.
Welcome to our homeschool blog. We will share our day to day routine and experience as we go along teaching and learning.

Where am I?
Well, nowhere. still here, filling my days. Busy all the time, being up and down my self. Struggle and juggle my day to day routine but will I loose the plot? Alhamdulillah not yet. Feel like it, but force my self back on track.
This couple of days we been on and off homeschool. Last week we did some work on mindsprinting as usual. Also we did couple of other subject such as history, islamic studies, history and quran reading of course.
Yesterday we never did much as I had a guest coming in the evening and I was busy tidy up the house and prepared the food. On Monday we went to the library to borrow lots of books. Children love reading and AS have learn lots of new words along the way. I'm so please with mindsprinting as well. The worksheet just teach my children it self. AS now gradually learn a lots from reading, fill in the sentences and complete the words by reading the story which is the basic or the start of doing comprehension. he enjoy doing it more now than before and can sit and finish his homework without my help. I'm so please to see how he had improve a lots in our chaos life. It never be any hard work on it, surprisingly. Whenever we as homeedu got the right tool for learning, our children just flow up to the sky with their learning without any hard time or lots of spending time with them formally.
What I'm experience now as homeeducator is after months of spending time doing research, try and error, planning, scheduling, reschedule and etc, is worth it. I was thinking before that i spent too much time in prepare my self more than teaching children. Not prepare my self in term of studying what I'm going to teach them, but how and what is the best resource to teach them. how to tackle and work smart rather than work hard. Plus with my health at the moment that up and down, I do need to make sure the way that I work is simple, easy, affordable yet work.
It is still long way to go. But every time we sit down to do our homeschool, I can see the progress and very happy with it. AS now entering on counting hundreds. He can now not just know how to count 10,20,30 up to 100, but can also used to cube to show 45, 56 and etc by counting 10, 20 which every ten represent different colour of cube. he can than bring put it in to the worksheet and workout the answer needed. Although at first I don't really like the start of mindsprinting program which teach AS and S about One, tens and hundreds which is not so much and important in UK curriculum, but than I found out that it's actually develop their maths brilliantly with out hard work. Also, I remember learn a lots of that at the start of my primary school.
Today AS also start to learn science formally from the workbook I bought from WH Smith. It's DK science workbook for key stage 1. Last week I print out life circle sheet which is cutting and gluing the picture of life circle and he manage to put them in order by himself. ( Can't take a picture yet as I'm not sure where my camera is at the moment). Today we did learn about alive and not alive in his science workbook. I don't have to teach him, but only read it together with him and he just know the answer straight away, alhamdulillah. It's just so rewarding seeing all this progress been made everytime we homeschool. I never spent much time with him but the result is just amazing, alhamdulillah.
This is the best part of homeschool for me. Which is I can choose what best for my children and make my own research with help from others and try and see which is the best and suitable for the level of the children and easy to run it. As soon as we find the right tool and resource, learning just flow in easily with out stress.
For S, today we start reading our new islamic studies book that just arrive which the topic today is about salaat. I've been reading this with S`and AS and I get S to write down the question and answers it about the topic we learning. Yesterday we just receive the package I've been waiting for which is contain the set of arabic book for each of my children level and islamic studies book for first level. S, MS and PS start doing their Arabic book today. The Arabic book is not just for learning Arabic, but, knowing letter, how to read quran, teach how to write the quran properly as well as teach the pronunciation and tajweed as well. I found that Ad Duha is amazing. I wish I can buy the whole program but i can't afford at the moment. Anyway, the book is so easy to follow as it's design for homeschooler and for non arabic speaking language. The important things for me is with the book it's help for me to explain to my children how to pronoun the word correctly and the rules of the tajweed. I was worried because I can read with tajweed, I had book for tajweed but in Malay language. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to explain to them in English correctly. This book is so helpful and even we only on the first day, alhamdulillah children love it very much and I love it very much as well. Tomorrow I'm going to start the book with AS as well. For me Ad Duha is worth the money. I spend £200 just for mini tafsir book, full Arabic book for all four level of my children and basic islamic studies book.
For today MS done maths, english as usual. Also science and arabic lesson from Ad duha workbook. PS did her maths and english, also history and arabic lesson from her ad duha workbook. MS still doing his multiplication on maths and after lots and lots of worksheet of multiplication, PS had remark that MS been very quick on time table than her when they plan with their v tech lap top. Than I know the result. I was a bit worried as mindsprinting still giving him worksheet of multiplication and he seems having enough sometimes but suddenly he know how important it is. Months ago he take ages to finish one piece of multiplication worksheet. Now he finish 4 pages of worksheet which is about 80 question in under one hour. I'm very please with it. For me it's very important for him to master that before he can go in to more broadly topic in maths. PS also still on factor. Every worksheet improve their learning and skill it self amazingly although they seems like the same all the time but it's not. I'm also had bought more book from schoolfield and sims for MS English. I bought them from middlesbrough library and now we had a complete set of punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, writing fiction, writing non fiction and writing poem. Apart from his worksheet on mindsprinting. Also I start to buy the set for maths. At the moment I had problem solving. They had each topic such as fraction, measurement, adding and subtraction, algebra and etc. It's good as each book focus on particular topic and gradually develop and master the topic.
PS as usual can be left alone most of time with her revision and workbook. She will do research on computer and transfer in to piece of work. I did borrow a book about Design and technology for her from the library and she start making her own design on abaya. We'll see how it goes.
With out me realising or not, we been doing a lots in our homeschool. Although we not doing it as everyday as we should be at the moment, but we manage to improve, learn and progress. It is nice to have a children that love learning. Although I do had to shout and scream to get them gather, but as soon as they start, they just can't stop. I'm still nagging, screaming and shouting and talk and talk and did lots of motivation especially for PS. It's just something that I reckon that I have to do. Especially as PS being in the middle of two world. I did feel give up at some point and at sometimes. may be abut 5 or 10 minutes. Alhamdulillah. I do get frustrated time to time as I'm fed up of saying the same thing, but, I'm the mother at the end. Alhamdulillah my children do appreciate my nagging, and talking and never fed up or show moody face towards me. They just know that I'm here for them. Although I do feel fed up and give up, but thinking how much they had give me and help me around, the burn out feeling gone everytime. In the situation where I'm not feeling good and well most of the time, they all there for me to help tidy up, clean the kitchen, serve the food, wash the plates and doing all the clothes for me. I couldn't have done it without them.
They are children which still need lots of my nagging, shouting and talking. But, the result is they do get better and better. They always look after me and ease my burden. They just there for me and every inch of their progress just shine my day. The satisfying of homeschool cannot be deny and I'm enjoy every inch of it. I just love it so much!!!

Crawling the step
Today we went for a walk along the beach. Alhamdulillah weather had been lovely. With sweater and winter coat, we been walking about a mile along the beach and another mile to return back to where we park our car. It had been a nice walk and nice fresh air which we all need alhamdulillah.
We than start our homeschool nice and easy. Not much as we start late after came back from beach as I'm also had an appointment with GP this morning. We did our worksheet from mindsprinting as usual. MS continue his work on finding the fact about dinosaur and the time line for dinosaur. PS continue her work on lap book about medieval time. She didn't manage to follow her timetable properly yet as my timetable is up side down as well at the moment. S the one that have lots of worksheet from mindsprinting as she's in the middle from all of them and the tutoring offer three type for her which is Maths, Comprehension and Reading Excellent.
AS had been doing very well and learn very fast. With mindsprinting means he will just keep going on as much as he want and I'm there for him to print it out. it's so nice as now he's on his 6 lesson, he able to finish six worksheets on his own without help and done earthing correctly. The worksheet for English contain basic word scramble, fill in the sentence from the given words and fill in the sentence according to the story he read which is a basic of comprehension. Day by day the sheet improve it self and improve AS learning altogether. He also wanted to keep doping work although he asking me can he have a break but than turn around and ask what should he do. I give him his worksheet and he go away and come back with completed worksheet. Only couple of months ago I was worried about his reading and how I'm going to be able to help his learning. Now, he always complain about his workbook is too easy for him which the work book is for hi age level.
S also has made a progress with mindsprinting so did PS and MS especially on maths. It certainly help me to spend time on other subject and take some burden out of me, alhamdulillah.
Overall today was quiet a slow but moving forward day for our homeschool. Day by day we learn new things or improve and strengthen what we had learn. It's so nice to see all this happen and hopefully this will keep us going..

Alhamdulillah...children been great help.
I been up and down since last weeks. Less rest and put others first may be the right words to describe me at the moment. But, what else mum can do especially in foreign country rather than just keep it on.
Alhamdulillah children had been a great help. Can't complain about them, not a bit. It is been up and down as whenever we as a mum sick, we still wanted things to be in order plus we also facing our mood swing which can be scary at the time. As we still entertaining people, PS and MS had been helping around a lots in cleaning, washing up, doing the clothes, tidy up and etc. Nothing else make me feel better rather than see the kitchen nice and tidy after been entertaining guest. All done by MS and PS most of the time. Sometimes S and AS get involved. They been tidying around, hovering and etc. It's just on going work load and they had been successfully help me with out much moan and grin. Sometimes, none at all.
As for their help, in between me feel sick, tired, entertaining people, we manage to do lots of work. We keep on our work with mins printing as usual everyday. Reading quran everyday, read taaklim of course which is in other words reading hadith about the benefit of amal. We also did some art and craft where S had been making prate boat as part of her learning with her holiday books from Letts I bought from car boot sale. It's a book which contains learning for all subject according to UK curriculum which been present with fun and exciting project as well.
This is what we been learning in between a mess.
PS had been doing worksheet about prime factor, prime number, common multiple number from minds printing. Also keep on work on her CGP workbook. She also been doing her history and finish everything about medieval life and now she's making a lapbooking about it. On English, minds printing keep her on her comprehension and she been doing her English workbook from CGP also. She need to practise her story writing and I need to find a website to subscribe for her English. At the moment I can't find anything that suitable for her just yet.
MS had been doing her maths worksheet from mindsprinting which is multiplication. At the moment for him I just leave him to follow what he need to do on that. He didn't made much mistake and sometimes none at all on his worksheet. Only what he need to do is improve his time on calculation which he did a lots now. On English he been doing comprehension from mindsprinting and His Grammar, Vocabulary and punctuation workbook. He also started to do a project about Dinosaur on lapbooking. Also we been doing our quran reading everyday. He improve a lots, alhamdulillah. I moved him little at the time but make sure he grips them good before he moved to next one. This to ensure, insya Allah when he start reading his quran he should be able to read on it nicely.
S had been doing her holiday workbook from Letts. Also she been doing Maths worksheet from mindprinting. Her topic is about grouping an regrouping. She never learn about this before but alhamdulillah it's a good start and she did get on with it well. Also she had comprehension and vocabulary worksheet from the same site. She also did some learning in History. She did her workbook on islamic studies also about the life of the Prophet.
AS had done great with worksheet from mindsprinting. As on lesson 4 now, he can do lots of them without help which means he can read instruction his self. He did better on his own as well. If I give attention and he seems confuse, not sure and etc. But, once I turn my back, he just get on his own and done everything correctly in order. His reading improve a lots as well. He also learn how to put words together from phonic sound. As that he can read difficult words such as 'hard', 'very' and lots others. ( I will put up all the words he can now read. We been borrowing a books from library, some of them for probably year 2 reading. His reading really improve on his own without much of my help. Independent learning really makes it's way and show up the result.
It has been hard, difficult time for me and children. But, amazingly we do work together as a team and try hard to make up our learning. In the mist of stress and pressure, we go through it and win over the test. Alhamdulillah.

Unique learning
Last week as guest coming in and out on top of each other, I manage to give children some work from minds printing. This site really help me a lots especially in the middle of rushing, cooking, cleaning, entertaining and homeschool. Being in UK, of course not like in Malaysia where ready made food is variety and can be buy in every corner of the state. You just need to point your finger and and make a choice. As Malaysian, we used to have heavy food from breakfast which means living in England, when ever happen to have a guest, means non stop cooking. Especially in this cold weather, tummy will always be rumbling. Breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner need to be serve.
Enough with growing children in my house, having visitor means cooking, cleaning, cooking, cleaning and it's never stop. Other things need to be done in between such as hovering, clothes ( hard in winter as cannot be dry outside), tidying especially when I have guest other guest coming in and out overlap on each other. When ever new guest arrive, bed cover, pillow cases and duvet cover need to be change as well. Guest room need to be clean as nobody ever sleep in it before. That's me anyway. I want all my guest to feel comfy staying in my house.
As all that, homeschool can be done in what ever spare time I have or cannot be done at all. Simple as that. Alhamdulillah, as mind printing concern, it make my job easy in the middle of rush and chaos. I manage to get children do some work. But of course I couldn't give much time for them. As for that, I can only get them to do Maths and English ( only comprehension for PS and MS). Also quran reading. That's all. As I try to get back on track and do my planning and scheduling, everything just stop as I haven't got time.
On the other side I do feel pressure as I feel they not learn enough as I don't have time. I don't have time to sit and set up their curriculum let alone lesson plan. Without lesson plan, it's boring, mess the time and the lesson and the children themselves. Unschooling? My children did lots of unschooling now. It's too much as I'm busy and busy.
To get a ready made curriculum, not now. Not at this time as I can't really effort that. I wish I can. Especially for PS. So, it's all up to me. Their mum to actually get the lesson plan and plan and schedule so they all can get on with their learning. It's taking toll sometimes, it's stress, pressure for me but I couldn't put it away. I know that as I'm homeschool I'm also in different world from other people homeschool. I know everybody go through up and down, but it's not the down side. I'm not feeling pressure of children behaviour or children don't want to learn and etc. I have a lovely children who listen and eager to learn all the time. I have children who learn very quick where sometimes hard for me to catch their progress.
I just stress and pressure as I don't have enough time to give in. I try to make it happen. I up from morning till night and spend my time when ever I can. I try hard and will always try and will make it happen.
Although I did have a question as if children learn enough? Because I haven't been giving as much time as they needed. Did I ruin them? All the work I been giving them, they did with excellent. They progress in their learning very quick. All four of them. Only me who couldn't cope as it's too much for me to catch up. Whenever they behind in their lesson and not learn something they should be learning, it's me who need to be blame as I don't have time.
I do have a strong gut. I know I will make this happen doesn't matter what coming on my way. I will still homeschool my children although my time it's stretch out. I will continue and will keep trying. I do have confident that we can do it. Pull our self together, and still open our door to anybody to come. It's a hard work, but as we entertain people and make others comfy and happy, I believe Allah is always there to help us when ever we need. He the one who can make our journey easy and teach my children in unique way.

Tarbiyah from Allah
As I'm having overlap guest since Friday a week ago, I haven't manage to formally working with children and our homeschool. But, of course the important lesson children learn is ikramul muslimin. Entertaining non stop guest is not an easy job. But as Allah had send full blessing in to our house, children learn the important lesson and of course it's tarbiyah from Allah. Nothing more important than the lesson Allah from Allah.

Beautiful connection
This morning I wake up with a bit of a mess. I'm a bit tired out and go back to bed after hubby went to work. Can't sleep anyway, just laying on the bed under duvet in such a cold, dark weather which make me feel nice and cosy. As I heard everybody wake up, I force my self to get out from bed. I don't really need to do cooking today as we got bits and bobs left over from yesterday. Although pizza in ummrashid blog look fascinating!
After breakfast, I open up computer and see the comment from the last post from ummrashid. She suggest a link which she said she didn't try it yet though. I'm not sure at first as I got so many site I'm on and trying to maintain. But, I need what ever resource I have or been given and give it a try to see if it's gonna work.
Well, I'm a very happy bunny at the moment. The site is excellent. Although I don't really like as it's US curriculum which in a way or in some topic did have different things which need me to explain again to children and etc. But, overall the site is pretty much make my job easy. As a home educator which have four children in different key stage plus maintaining house hold while hubby done his own responsibility financially and maintaining what man's got to do, plus also his important things is spend time for the work of deen, I'm really need something that can help and satisfied me in doing my job.
The website is friendly user I believe and give you free tutoring and worksheet according to achievement of your child. It's like easy as A, B, C. The best things is of course because it's FREE. Especially in this credit crunch time!
This morning after explore the site, I get children to do their assessment test straight away. S and AS are on the level or one level above. There's three test for reading, comprehension and maths. Of course comprehension not for AS. PS and MS slightly below the level on Maths as I expected because my lack of time for them, but on the right level for English which is quiet good. I'm quiet satisfied and this also give them a clue that they need to work hard and keep themselves on track.
My plan now is to used to site to help me on day to day basis for Maths and English. Only PS English may need more than what's in there as it's better design for primary age English. As this, my work for AS and AH and for PS maths and MS maths seems kind of sort out. I can now concentrate on the weakness of the subject with particular person importantly MS and also concentrate on plenty more subject that I haven't got much time before.
I can't express how much I love the site and feel satisfied with the way it's help me and can just get on with others. With more phone call as we will be receiving more guess, this site did take some workload off me. Alhamdulillah. Jazaka Allah ummrashid for the suggestion. If there anymore suggestion for any homeschool our there, kindly drop it off on the comment. I'm here to try any kind of things which especially not cost me at all or may be with little payment.
Also I found this course for ICT mainly for PS and MS. It's free and it's design to make the learn easy and fun as well. PS already started on it. I will than get MS also on the course. That's solve another problem. I got the site from one of yahoo group I subscribe. Thanks for the sister who email about the site.
It was excellent to have to get in touch to all this sisters either through blog or email. As someone who not easily get satisfied and also love to keep doing research about what resource is good for my children, and work especially for me, anybody can always drop me a site for me to try on. I would love to gather as much information I can. JazakAllah Huhairan, may Allah bless everybody..
