Holiday

Yesterday we all not feeling well. Especially me and AS and PS. S manage to do some of her mindsprinting worksheet. Three set all together, alhamdulillah. We just have a rest and lay down as I feel so bad my self.

In the evening, kids play outside as the weather is very nice, alhamdulillah. After magrib, while waiting for insya prayer, we manage to do halaqah quran for ten surah and play salat games. Slat games is good for us, as this is the time for me to see the progress of kids in term of what they learn in fikh. I'm going to do exam for kids for islamic studies by end of June or early July. This will included theory exam and practical exam. Although kids are good in looking after prayer and etc, they still on training and still lots of reminder and still lot the skill need to brush up. I like to stress out islamic studies more in term of practicality and not just learn, know it and close the book.

As for that I stress more on topic such as Fikh, muamalat and muasharat. Knowledge that need to know by kids in dealing with their day to day life. Also, tauhid and iman. Alhamdulillah, hubby do lots of talking every time after he read ta'lim in our daily ta'lim halaqah. He will talk with kids about important of bringing the amal in to practice and not just listen to the hadith and quran like we did in our ta'alim such a habit and routine only. Although we listen to it again and again, but the important bit is how to bring it into practice. It's not worth memorising all the hadith and quran, if we can't bring it into practise. And it's not worth understand what quran and hadith days in it's own language arabic, if we can't bring it into practice. It's important to learn of how to bring what quran and hadith says into practice and it's doesn't mean that we had to go through the quran it self to learn about it. As quran is a guidance, but in quran it self got so many hidden things that not everybody can understand especially for ordinary people like me and hubby unless we spend our whole life and spend time altogether in it.

I'm also don't stress to kids that every time they need to know something, they open quran and hadith. For me, quran and hadith is not for everybody to understand although one can speak arabic fluently. I did ask my brother before about the important to learn arabic language. He said to me, it's not difficult to learn, but once you know the arabic language means you know the meaning of the quran and hadith. If you know, but you don't practise it, then you will have to answer it. And someone that know arabic language had more difficult task in the day of judgement then a muslim who don't'. Because these people know and if they don't bring it into practise and it's more harder for them. He told me, it's important to stress my kids islamic studies on fikh and tauhid. This two is very important and even if someone know arabic language and the whole meaning of the quran and hadith but didn't stress on this, this is when things go wrong. and we see many sad case.

For me, as if I see hubby himself. He's not a hafiz, not an alim. He go through secular education. he become Engineer at the end. But, as far as he concern, he keep his prayer since he was seven. He don't bother about what other said, even if he friend with people who don't pray, when pray time come, he left them to do his prayer. He never get influence by immoral environment which don't follow shariah. He is strict more then and some other that learn and go through islamic studies or environment. I can say, that I salute him in term of looking after his prayer, muamalat and muasyarat. And that's what he put important in bringing up our kids. he don't mind if they don't become alim or hifd or didn't memorise quran and hadith, but putting stress on looking after themselves on prayer time, taking wuduk properly, know what to do in time of hardship to do prayer, and on top of all others, go back to Allah every time in good or bad. Pray two rakaat if we in trouble and back to Allah s.w.t. and not to other even parents. And this is tough lesson to teach, I reckon.

Last week home edu

Our homeschool last week was a bit of mix feeling for me. Rush, busy, tired but wanted to get on as well. With guest during weekend up till Tuesday, it was a bit of busy and rush. But, I was eager not to get down with whatever coming along the way of our homeschool as we got so much to do before we change our approach later when weather is more promising out side.

Alhamdulillah we manage to get things done although some of the things kids do independently studies. I don't mind other academic subject but I love to sit especially with AS and S on their Islamic studies and not let them read by themselves and do the worksheet. For PS and MS, alhamdulillah, their Islamic Studies had getting firm which they can always learn independently with the resource we had.

I had yet not finish doing portfolio for kids which I meant to be finish anytime soon and put all the book which had been used away in the store. It's just too much when I had guest every weekend and learn to do all the cleaning during weekday while homeschool and ordinary cleaning and cooking. I do feel like everything was on top of my head, and I keep forgetting what kids had learn a day before and they had eventually explain to me about what they had done. Thanks to the schedule that they fill in by themselves. It's help a lots as I don't think with I'm here and there, I might had lost the plot. I'm also meant to take a picture of AS reading book and isn't manage to do until now. Yesterday I was going through his library book which he borrow last Tuesday and very shock with the book he got.

First things come out of my mouth is, " How can he read all this?".

PS straight answer me, " Yeah, of course he can. He been reading like all these book and he love the story".

Looks like I been left out with he's reading further and further. Dear me!

It has been a stressful situation with MS as he's now on question. He kinds of stressful boy when he see all these division question! And the bad thing is when he distract himself too much and it make me on top of my patient as this means he will be on the same worksheet for hours. Whenever he's not distract himself or be distract, then he will finish it so quick but that's not always the case. So, he was behind on Friday especially when he had to go to Friday prayer and I was late in the morning as hubby was at home. So, he do have some leftover work from Friday that he got to catch up. I just think that he's the challenge for me and of course from all kids we had there will be one who had to test us. And these is my test upon my kids homeschool.

If MS on his first subject, others can jump on two of three subject already. Especially now S starting multiplication topic which she already learn, which means the worksheet she had was so easy and she done about three to five set of mindsprinting worksheet each day these week in just a short time. She was a happy bunny these week after the horrible graph lesson before especially drawing all the graph and calculate all the numbers to percentage and area which is a bit stressful for her. but, she done the test for the topic quiet well.

PS had started to plan herself for next year GCSE. She will, Insya Allah take English as first language, Art and Design and ICT. It's upon her own will and I'm just back her up and guide and support her. She was full of motivation now which is a surprise to me but of course I was full of moon seeing her like that. She also get help from my friends daughter who in collage who willing to help her with her Art and Design by chat as she is in Coventry. She also spend her money and borrow some book from library for the particular subject. Suddenly, it lighten me up and I for quiet sometimes now, I didn't enter into argument with her anymore. What a surprise. But, may be our two weeks break before did some magic and give us a break that we needed to get back on the right track, alhamdulillah.
